There is something so special about maternity sessions in the studio during the winter months. When everything outside feels cold and quiet, the studio becomes this warm, calm space to slow down and focus on what really matters.
This session was exactly that.
We kept things simple with a mini session and a few outfit changes, which was the perfect way to create a beautiful variety of images without feeling overwhelming. Each look brought a slightly different feel, while still keeping everything soft, timeless, and connected.
And truly, this mama-to-be made it effortless.
One of the questions I get asked often is when to schedule a maternity session. I always recommend somewhere around 32 to 34 weeks. At that point, your bump is beautifully visible, you are still feeling relatively comfortable, and we are not cutting it too close to baby’s arrival.
It is that sweet spot where everything just comes together.
Studio maternity sessions are also such a great option this time of year. We are not worrying about weather, wind, or cold temperatures. Instead, we are able to focus on creating soft, flattering light and a relaxed experience where you can just be present and enjoy it.
These are the moments that go by so quickly.
The anticipation. The quiet before everything changes. The way your body is holding something so important.
I am already counting down the days until I get to see this family again for their newborn session. There is nothing better than documenting this full season, from bump to baby, and everything in between.
See what mom had to say on a google review:
“Carrie completely exceeded all of my expectations for my maternity photo shoot! She thoughtfully planned various backdrop scenes that would match my vision, and poses from my Pinterest board inspiration. Her studio is so bright, clean, and welcoming – and she is the sweetest! Upon receiving the proofs, we were blown away at the quality of the photos before even receiving the final edits. She has a true talent and we will recommend her to anyone and everyone! We look forward to seeing Carrie again for our newborn photos :)”
