This senior session will forever hold a special place in my heart — not just because the light was absolutely perfect (golden-hour glow dreams!), but because the girl in front of my camera is someone incredibly close to me: my niece.
She’s not just graduating high school — she’s doing it a whole year early. (Yes, she’s that smart!) So when my sister and niece came up from Florida for a visit, we knew we had to take the opportunity to document this major milestone in the place where her story began — right here in Maine.
We started our session at Higgins Beach, one of my favorite coastal spots in Scarborough. The sky started shifting to soft pinks and golden tones just as we began shooting — the kind of light that photographers dream of. Between the sound of the waves, the soft breeze, and the way the sunlight danced on the water, it was pure magic. She looked so grown up and stunning, but also completely at home. It was one of those full-circle moments where you realize how fast time has flown.
For the second look, we headed to a little field near my parents’ house — a quiet, open space that holds so much nostalgia for our family. The golden grasses, the open sky, the calm… it was the perfect contrast to the beach and felt even more personal.
Just Yesterday…
I swear, it feels like just yesterday I was buying her first pair of high heels. She was three, clicking through the mall like she was on a runway. It was the cutest thing I’d ever seen. And now? She’s grown. Poised. Brilliant. She’s truly become someone I admire. Although I’ll always miss the little girl she once was, I absolutely love the woman she’s becoming.
I know we’ll always be close — and these photos are more than just a senior session. They’re memories frozen in time, roots wrapped in golden light, and proof of how far she’s come.
