As a Maine Photographer I couldn’t help but take our family photos and videos at the apple orchard. A annual family tradition for my family. Each year we would head out to Wallingford’s Apple orchard to pick apples and then make apple crisp. Being able to share it with our son was the best year yet. He discovered he loved the taste of apples. I think we had little bite marks in 70% of the apples we picked. He was not quite a fan of the wagon ride. He held on for dear life. It was a day we will never forget.
The first fall with our son was a really special one. He was just starting to walk. Exploring his environment more and more. Identifying objects and people by name. Trying all the new foods. My husband and I truly enjoyed seeing the world from his fresh eyes.
This video highlights from his first birthday until his first step on his own.
As a Maine Photographer I love documenting my families day to day life. However, one thing I was passionate about was making sure I was in the pictures myself. It is hard sometimes to set up a tripod and get the shots, but it is worth it. If you are the one who takes most of your family pictures, I strongly recommend handing off the camera and making sure you are in the pictures too. You will never regret it. You will regret not being in any.
I gave my husband the camera and asked him to take a few of my son and I picking apples. Although he may have cropped my hand a bit these are some of my favorite images of us from that year. Remember the pictures don’t need to be perfect. They just need to be taken.
I think this smile says it all. He would use his 3 little teeth to nipple a bite of the apple and then look at us and smile. This is where his love affair with apples all began.
