Maine Family Photography: Why family photography is important

Family, Personal

Jan 30

back to blog

As Maine Photographers, we have heard almost every excuse why parents (especially mothers) don’t want to get into the photos. I just want to lose a few more pounds. My hair is a mess. The photos will be cuter if it is just the kids. As a mom I have used a few of these myself. As time keeps marching on I realize it really doesn’t matter what you are wearing or how skinny you are. You kids deserve to see you in your family photos. Getting into photos with your children is not just about capturing moments; it’s about weaving yourself into the fabric of their memories. Someday all they will have are photos and videos. Make sure you give them the gift of you.

Here’s why Maine family photography is so important:

So, step into those photos. It’s not about being picture-perfect; it’s about being present, and that, my friend, is where the true magic lies.

  • Frozen Moments of Joy: Life moves at lightning speed, and before you know it, your little ones aren’t so little anymore. By being in the photos, you freeze those precious moments of laughter, play, and everyday joy. It’s a way to bottle up the magic of their childhood.
  • Tangible Expressions of Love: A picture speaks a thousand words, they say. Your presence in those photos is a tangible expression of the love you share with your children. It’s a visual reminder that you were right there beside them, in both ordinary and extraordinary moments.
  • Connection Beyond Words: Kids may not always remember the details of every day, but they remember feelings. Being in photos creates a connection that goes beyond words. It’s a silent assurance that they were never alone, that you were an active participant in the beautiful chaos of their upbringing.
  • Building Self-Worth: Children absorb the world around them like sponges, and seeing their parents in photos reinforces a sense of belonging and importance. It contributes to their self-worth, showing them they are valued and cherished.
  • Shared Stories: Each photo tells a story, and you become a vital character in the narrative of their lives. It’s not just about capturing a smile; it’s about creating a visual diary of shared adventures, milestones, and the everyday magic that happens when you’re present.
  • Legacy and Remembrance: Life is unpredictable, and being in photos ensures that, even if circumstances change, your children will always have a tangible piece of you to hold onto. It becomes a part of the legacy you leave behind, a story they can share with generations to come.
  • Moments of Reflection: As your children grow, these photos become a time capsule. Looking back at them together provides moments of reflection and a chance to celebrate the journey you’ve all taken. It’s a powerful way to strengthen the family bond.
