I have said it before and I will keep saying it….In-home family sessions are truly amazing! Here is a post a did highlighting some of the great reasons to consider an in home family session. Recently I did a session with the ‘C’ family at their gorgeous Westbrook home. As a Westbrook Maine Photographer, the main difference between shooting at a clients home and shooting on location is how relaxed everyone is. The kids are comfortable. Mom and dad have a few minutes to finish up their hair etc. No packing up a car. No worrying about wrinkled clothes or items forgotten.
Some people might worry about their house being in perfect order. But I can promise you, that doesn’t even matter. The way I shoot we find little areas and the clutter or mess won’t even show. So no need to do a deep spring clean for me.
Another concern is that people don’t want alot of their home put on the internet. I get that. I truly do. When I shoot in a clients home I communicate with them what they are comfortable with. You will see from these images below that you would never be able to see the layout of their home, personal details etc. I am there to focus on your and your family…not your decor.
My second favorite aspect is that I arrived to their house at 10am. Normally I do not like shooting sessions outside at this time of day. The light bright and everyone is squinting or sweating. Kids are generally well rested and in a great mood in the morning. A little later time also gives them the opportunity to have a good breakfast and relax before smiling for a camera.
